Rooftop Line — a graffiti-tagged wall, an apartment tower, and Illimani behind

A cracked, graffiti-tagged wall in the foreground, a tall apartment tower slicing the frame, and behind all of it — La Paz spilling down its canyon toward Illimani, snowcap glowing under a half-clouded sky. Urban grit in front, alpine silence in back.

Proof the mountain shows up in your photos even when you weren’t trying to take one of it.

Illimani, briefly La Paz is the only capital city in the world with a 6,000-metre peak as part of its skyline. Illimani is roughly 50 km south-east of the city centre — close enough that a wide-angle lens through an apartment window catches it, far enough that the summit stays a rumour of another world.
